Big City Icons
A performance by the De Profundis Company and Hangzó Konzort

Inspired by Wim Wenders’ film “The sky above Berlin,” the performance is about two angels who wander in a big city, observing in its grayness the everyday life of men deprived of sacrality. The dramaturgical arc of our production follows the description of angels and cities by four poets: excerpts from poems by Zita Izsó, János Pilinszky and Géza Röhrig are presented as mottos before every station, and at the end we can listen to a work by Krisztina Tóth. As a contrast to the materialism of the imagined city, religiously themed Renaissance motets are performed by the Hangzó Konzort. Music, literature and movement interact in 50 minutes.
